CAN / COULD - explicação

We use can to talk about present abilities. (Usamos can para falar sobre habilidades presente.)

Ex:

My sister can play the violin very well. (Minha irmã toca violino muito bem. )

I can’t speak French. (Eu não falo francês.)

Lisa can sing beautifully.( Lisa pode cantar lindamente. )

We use could to talk past abilities.( Usamos could para falar de habilidades passadas)

Ex:

When he was younger, David could swim very well. (Quando era mais jovem, David sabia nadar muito bem.)

Maria couldn’t read and write when she was four. (Maria não sabia ler e escrever quando tinha quatro anos.)
